Miami Valley Steel Service, Inc. (MVSS) a supplier of processed low-carbon steel, is pleased to announce a significant leadership change within the company, effective July 1, 2023.

Effective July 1st, Lou Moran will be stepping down as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will become Executive Chairman of the MVSS Board of Directors. Replacing Lou as President and CEO will be Nick Straka, current Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MVSS.

Lou Moran, who has dedicated 33 years to MVSS, will transition to the position of Executive Chairman of the MVSS Board of Directors. Lou joined MVSS after working as a CPA with Battelle & Battelle CPAs for eight years. Throughout his tenure at MVSS, he held key positions such as Controller, Plant Manager, Vice President of Operations and Finance, and most recently served as President and CEO for the last 14 years. Lou expressed his excitement for his new role, stating, “I am looking forward to my continued involvement with MVSS and am excited to support Nick as he leads his team into the future. Nick has a great understanding of the industry and our business and will lead his team with passion.”

Nick Straka, the current COO of MVSS, will assume the role of President and CEO. Since joining MVSS in 2005 in Sales, Nick has consistently demonstrated his commitment and expertise. He has held various roles including Account Manager, Inside Sales Manager, Director of Business Development, and Vice President of Purchasing and Business Development. Since 2021, Nick has been serving as the COO. Reflecting on his new position, Nick stated, “At the core of our business lies a culture of excellence that extends to our employees and business partners.
